The Harvard Ed Portal, established in 2008 as the Harvard Allston Education Portal on N. Harvard Street, is a collaborative partnership between Harvard University, the City of Boston, the Harvard Allston Task Force, and the Allston-Brighton community.
The Ed Portal’s program offerings build upon Harvard’s commitment to education beyond the classroom. Robert A. Lue, Harvard University Professor of the Practice of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Faculty Director of HarvardX and Faculty Director of the Ed Portal, leads the development of its academic curriculum and programs with Harvard College and other schools and programs across the University.
A membership based resource for Allston-Brighton residents, the Ed Portal opened its doors providing mentoring to 26 neighborhood children. Programming has since expanded to include ages across the lifespan and to engage a broader geographical audience in 7 program areas:
· Arts and Culture
· Economic Development
· HarvardX for Allston
· Health and Wellness
· Public School Partnerships
· Workforce Development
The newly designed and expanded Ed Portal opened in February 2015 and is located at 224 Western Avenue in Allston at the crossroads of Harvard’s campus in Allston and the North Allston-Brighton neighborhood. Contact us or visit the Ed Portal to find out first-hand about opportunities and programs.
