About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

As you put pen to paper in a ceremonial way with no expectations, demands, or criticism, you may discover a refuge available any time you want to enter a space of creativity and focus wherever you are. If you can draw these elemental strokes: I C S O …. then you can create amazing art by drawing patterns that we call Tangles. You will find it easy, relaxing and fun.

Please bring $10 to pay the teacher for the materials fee. Thank you!

About Tracie Schatz

Tracie Schatz, a self-taught creative living near Joshua Tree National Park, embodies a lifelong passion for art. Tracie is happiest in her studio drawing. You can also find her painting outbuildings with vibrant murals or adorning her desert meditation trail with salvaged treasures. Tracie's journey led her to the meditative realm of Zentangle™ art and she became a Certified Zentangle Teacher in 2018. Intrigued by a “call for artists” by the Joshua Tree National Park Association, she infused whimsy into Joshua Tree landscapes, and is delighted to have had her public art debut at JTNPA's fall 2023 exhibition. She receives both inspiration and sanctuary on her 5 acre Running Bunny Retreat homestead. Explore her vibrant world on instagram @Zentangle_joshuatree.

VISION STATEMENT

Hi-Desert Artists (HDA) is an artist-designed and operated non-profit corporation created for the benefit of its members and the community. HDA advocates accessibility to the exhibition and sales of artwork by established and emerging artists on a continuing basis and welcomes non-members to show their work in special exhibitions. In addition, HDA seeks to provide opportunities for members to be involved in all aspects of supporting and operating an active and vibrant art gallery including, but not limited to, gallery management, art sales, public relations, marketing, curatorship, exhibit preparation, maintenance, and educational programming. The member artists aim to stimulate conversations within the High Desert community on aesthetic, interpretive, environmental, and material interests as well as fostering growth and development of the art community at large. In return, members will have an equal vote on all manners concerning the operation of the organization as outlined in the bylaws."
