Ever wanted to try the pottery wheel? Learn the foundational steps to creating a vessel on the potter's wheel. This class is perfect for ages 8 through 13 to get a taste of the pottery process or to begin their pottery journey.
You'll get a lot of support as you learn your way around the wheel in this small class setting. Classes are around 90 minutes long and limited to 6 people. Your teacher will share his wisdom and expertise as you shape 3 pieces of clay with your own hands while learning to center yourself through pottery. Afterwards, your created work will be glazed, fired, and ready for pick-up 3 weeks from the date of your class.
Parents are encouraged to take this class with they kiddo and learn together!
Instructor Background:
Asa Maestas is an experienced potter and instructor. He has been working with clay since 2011 and teaching pottery for over a decade. Asa found pottery in one of the darkest times in his life. As a young teenager, he started working with clay shortly after his mother passed. Working through this medium allowed him to work through loss and suffering as well as provided a means of self-expression. As he continued to discover, his work often consisted of a variety of textures applied in a loose pattern that used the entire surface of the clay, a style that continues to be a part of his artistic expression.
Asa's passion for the art and craft of clay is a palpable part of the class. He is both a fun and educational teacher, eager to share his skill and expertise with you.
