At the 4-H Youth Open House, we aim to provide a platform for youth to discover their passions and interests. Through interactive demonstrations, youth will have the opportunity to explore various fields, including horticulture, science, arts & crafts, and more. Whether you are part of our 4-H family or curious to learn more about it, this event is open to all. Come and meet your 4-H agents, make new connections, and discover the endless possibilities that 4-H offers. We can't wait to see you there!

What is 4-H's mission?

The UF/IFAS Extension 4-H Youth Development program uses a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world.

Is there a fee for participation?

Yes, upon acceptance into a club $20 for the year is due to participate in Florida 4-H. Scholarships are available upon request.

What is 4-H Club?

Clubs are the foundation of the 4-H program. A 4-H club is a group of five or more youth guided by two or more adult volunteer leaders. Each club uses a project area, such as STEM, as a vehicle to teach life skills that will help youth succeed in life.

What do the four Hs stand for?

The 4-H emblem represents a standard of quality in youth development, which is experiential in nature, meaning that youth learn through 4-H in a hands-on way. Head - Mental Development, Heart - Emotional Development, Hands – Skills Development, Health - Physical Development.

Who can join 4-H?

Florida 4-H is open to all youth, ages 5-18, determined as of September 1 of the current 4-H program year. Florida 4-H serves youth from all backgrounds and interests. It reaches youth through 4-H clubs, school enrichment, and other educational programs.

Breakdown of Age Divisions

Age of youth is determined by the age as of September 1st of the 4-H year. Cloverbud: 5-7 years old Junior: 8-10 years old Intermediate: 11-13 years old Senior: 14-18 years old

Leon County 4-H is part of the youth development program of the University of Florida/IFAS Extension. We use a research-based, learn-by-doing approach to help young people learn valuable skills needed to become responsible, caring, and productive citizens. Leon County 4-H is open to youth from all backgrounds and interests from ages 5-18.
