About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

WABA’s Youth Learn to Ride class breaks learning how to ride a bike down into 3 steps: gliding, pedaling and riding. This class is for children aged 6-12 who have never ridden a bike before or have tried to learn and have not been successful. Our League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) take students through a progressive curriculum, with the goal of riding with two pedals by the end of the session.

This class is right for your child if:

  • They are between the ages of 6 and 12 years old
  • Your child has never tried to learn how to ride a bike
  • They have tried to learn and have not been successful

Equipment:

  • Bike rentals and helmets are included for all participants.
  • All students are required to wear a helmet for the duration of the class.
  • Contact us at youth@waba.org if you have questions!

Frequently asked questions

Are you sure my child can learn to ride in 2 hours?

WABA's experienced instructors teach children the building blocks to becoming confident riders. As with any skill, practice makes perfect & students will progress at their own pace. We have taught hundreds of children to ride over the years, and will provide personalized feedback to help your child.

Does my child need their own bike to participate?

Nope! All participants will be provided with a bike rental and helmet.

What should we bring with to class?

Water, closed-toed shoes, athletic clothing, appropriate outerwear, snacks, and sunscreen!

Can my child bring their own bike?

Yes, but it must fit and be in good working order. If not, there will be a bike rental waiting for them.
