Overview

Schools must invite your child to their ARD meeting prior to turning 14. Learn how to prepare your child to participate in their meeting.

Did you know your child’s school is required to invite your child to their ARD
meeting when they are approaching their 14th birthday? The reason is because the ARD committee must have a transition plan in place for all students receiving special education services by the time they turn 14. Imagine walking into a room full of teachers, administrators, and other school personnel completely unaware of the purpose and unprepared to be the center of attention. After all, the ARD meeting is all about your child and they are the star of the show! This
presentation will explain the transition planning process and ways to help you and your child prepare to be a participant in their ARD meeting.
