You Are My One And Only - Artist's Talk

Oliver will talk about the installation currently featured in our window, and explain some of the ideas, themes and different visual approaches used in his work.

You Are My One And Only is a story about the house that the artist grew up in, and in particular the loss of his younger brother and sister when he was a child. The project explores themes of memory, loss, time, childhood, ageing and change.

Neither of Oliver’s parents knew that they both were carriers of a fatal, ultra-rare genetic condition. Yet, despite the death of the artist’s siblings, his own genes are not affected. After the death of his parents, Oliver extensively photographed the family home to tell this story and to explore his own identity as a son and a brother.

The project has recently been on display at London Photo Month, as part of the Open Call on the theme of ‘Longing’, which was also featured in the Guardian Online.
