The Hastings Academy are pleased to offer some enhanced transition opportunities for Year 6 students, particularly to support those who may benefit from additional input ahead of September.
We are offering transition sessions for:
- Students with SEND needs
- Students with an EHCP
- Primary schools with fewer than 5 students joining us in Year 7
Session Details:
- Dates: Mondays and Tuesdays, from 19th May to the week commencing 14th July
- Time: 9:00am – 10:30am (students to arrive at 8:50am and be collected at 10:30am)
- Location: The Hastings Academy
- Capacity: 10 places per session
Each session will begin with a short tutor time activity, followed by an outdoor session in our Forest School. This will allow students to meet current pupils, ask questions, and begin forming connections in a relaxed and supportive environment.
These sessions proved to be highly valuable for Year 6 students last year and had a clear impact on easing their transition to secondary school.
In addition, we are planning a separate, extended morning specifically for EHCP students. This will include time in our canteen and more tailored support to ensure a smoother transition. The date for this will be confirmed shortly.
