What is WWDCCommunity Open Space?

WWDCCommunity Open Space is a space for us Apple App Developers to connect, share and collaborate during WWDC week. For the past 3 years, an online open space was provided to the community. This year, i'm excited to share that an in-person open space will be available in Cupertino.

Question 2

Is this space free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can freely use the space as long as you follow the community code of conduct (https://bit.ly/wwdccommunity-coc). You can also donate if you want to help lower the expenses of the space. The space is meant for us, Apple App Developers, to meet, work and enjoy the company of each other.

Question 3

Are there any snacks at the open space?

Accepted Answer

There's no free snacks at the Open Space, but you can purchase food in nearby areas. I'm planning to purchase, water, coffee, tea to make sure that people are hydrated. You can also donate food, snacks, water, coffee, tea, juice to the community. Let me know if you want to bring any. :)

Are there any Health & Safety Protocols?

Accepted Answer

1. Masks are currently optional. (Bring your own mask)
2. Hand sanitizer will be provided (You can also donate if you like)
3. No mandatory minimum physical distance but keep a reasonable distance whenever possible.
4. If you are sick or have any COVID-19 symptom, please take a rest at home.

Question 5

Why is the date in the poster June 4-11, 2023? Where are the other events?

Accepted Answer

Community events are happening as early as June 4. You can check out Pre-WWDC drinks by Jordi Bruin and Core Coffee Meetup by Malin and Kai. For day 3 & 4, events such as hiking, tours can come up. You can follow @WWDCCommunity twitter for more details.

Are you having a watch party for those who didn't get a ticket for the Special Day at Apple Park?

I don't have a team yet for the hackathon, can I still join?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can actually meet people in the community who doesn't have a team yet. This is the best time to connect and learn as you build something together. Did you know that our first community hackathon winners, Ed and Ethan, just met during the hackathon? :)

Question 11

Will food be provided in the hackathon?

Accepted Answer

For now, there's no food provided. But there's are a lot of place you can purchase food nearby. Coffee, water, tea are on my list. Just bring a reusable water container to save the environment.

Why not use a donation platform to collect donations?

Accepted Answer

Paypal charges a lot - admin fees + conversion fees & sometimes have issues with remittance. If a big chunk of the donation just go to paypal, I would prefer for you to keep the money. So best to discuss when were in Cupertino. :)
