WWA Presents: "Telling Our Story: Using Setting as Character"
Overview
Hey Writers,
Join us for our first meeting of the 2025-2026 workshop! This year, our theme is storytelling. During each session, we will explore techniques to enhance our writing and storytelling, helping us shape the architecture of our narratives.
Week 4: Telling Our Story: Using Setting as Character
Explore how setting and characterization work together to transform personal experiences into quality writing.
📅 Date: Sunday, November 23, 2025
🕐 Time: 1:00 PM (Doors open at 12:45. We have a 15-minute grace period, after which we can’t allow late arrivals into the session.)
📍 Location: 131 Spring Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY
🎟️ RSVP here – Seating is limited, so don’t wait! All writers 21+ are welcome.
📚 Mandatory reading: Envelopes of Air by Ada Limon and Natalie Diaz (Members have access to all readings for the year. Click here to become a member!)
While reading, think about: How do Limón and Diaz use setting to express emotion and memory? What happens when setting becomes part of identity? We will discuss our thoughts during the meeting!
Workshopping will be available at our in-person meetings only. Virtual options are not available at this time.
We hope to see you there <3
