Frequently asked questions

What is the benefit of attending this class?

This class explains the down payment options offered by Washington State, the home buying process and preparing yourself to buy. Attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion that is valued at $50, the cost you would pay if a lender sent you to an online class.

Are there Income restrictions to this program?

Washington State has programs with maximum income limits of up to $180,000 per year.

Do I have to be a first time homebuyer or can I own another home and still use DPA?

No, and at least one program allows a borrower to own another home at the time of closing per agency guidelines as long as: 1) it was not financed through the Commission, and 2) the borrower intends to occupy the new home.

Why is the class so long :- (?

This is a Washington State Housing Finance Commission requirement for any buyer that is using WSHFC down payment assistance. The certificate is good for up to two years and includes a lot of valuable information for purchasing a home!

Do I need to do or bring anything with me?

Nothing is required of you to attend. It is free and open to anyone interested in Real Estate or learning about down payment assistance. We recommend that you bring a way to take notes and any questions you may have.

Will there be breaks?

Yes we will have two breaks during the session.

Will there be someone there that can answer my questions?

Yes, both a licensed Loan Officer and Realtor will be present. Questions are welcome and appreciated.

Will there be someone available that speaks Spanish?

Although this class is being done in English we have someone available to answer in Spanish. So if you have a parent or someone that has a question, we can help.
