Meditation is simple: focus. This can be focusing on walking, breathing, sitting, cutting vegetables, and on and on. Simple doesn't always mean easy. So many things are vyying for our attention. Social media, family, politics, finances, the job, traffic, etc.
Your body and brain need a break. Taking a break, however, can be uncomfortable if you're not used to being still, not "doing something", not being "productive", and being quiet.
In these workshops, Burgundie leads everyone in easily accessible meditation practices followed by or involving a writing exercise. Writing can be a form of meditation, too.
Meditation has been proven to reduce stress which reduces inflammation. A reduction in stress and inflammation can improve sleep, cognition, digestion, and decrease pain - among other things.
Burgundie owned yoga studios in Columbus, Ohio and Missoula, MT and held a message therapy license in Montana (which she let go of when she moved to Virginia). She also has a recently earned Masters Degree in Creative Non-Fiction.
