Event description
A workshop for teachers (Gr. 4+) teaching non-fiction writing which requires different composition skills and multiple sources of content.

About this Event

Fiction and non-fiction genres look different and are written for different purposes and audiences.

  • How can teachers can show their students how to identify important information in multiple texts or media sources?
  • How can information from multiple sources be collected and organized?
  • What are some easy writing activities in which students compose an original piece using the information they have researched including their own analyses?

We've invited a representative from NewsGuard.com to spend part of the morning with us to share a great tool that helps identify reliable and trustworthy online news websites. This workshop is a great follow up for anyone who attended our June 1 program with Sarah Brandt from NewsGuard.com.
