Writing for Justice: Virtual Workshop & Community Gathering
Overview
Facilitated by Lauren Oertel and Robert Tyrone Lilly, coauthors of Inside Out: A Texas Prisons Poetry Story, this workshop is more than writing—it is collective visioning.
• You’ll hear our story and vision.
• You’ll share yours.
• And we’ll write together toward the future we believe in.
We center justice and the radical power of the pen—the written word as a weapon to topple towers of tyranny, to write wrongs, to expose the lies of our collective enemies. Writing is not just expression—it is liberation, agency, and autonomy.
Join us to discover your revolutionary voice, as we discovered ours in Inside Out, a book born from struggle and solidarity, now resonating across Texas and beyond.
This is more than a workshop. It is a call to consciousness, a celebration of art as resistance, and an invitation to build the future through connection, creativity, and courage.
