This show is on the Improv Shop Main Stage.
WRITER'S BLOCK was born in Chicago as A Very Special Episode, an original improvised sitcom show that the cast spent years developing. Right as they started a two-month run at one of Chicago's premier improv theatres, the pandemic hit, and everything shut down.
After publishing one season of improvised sitcom fun as a podcast, the whole cast found themselves together again in L.A. - where everyone has a pilot. Writer's Block was born in the midst of the WGA strike to provide a platform for up-and-coming writers to share their unproduced work - with a healthy side of improv, of course. And the rest is history!
Now, Writer's Block is a monthly show at The Lyric Hyperion in Los Angeles that features a staged reading of a brand new, original pilot followed by an improvised episode of the same series, bringing writing and improv together on stage.
The Writer’s Block cast has been performing together as A Very Special Episode for over five years, in Chicago and Los Angeles. Individually, they are writers, actors, and artists who trained and performed at improv theatres all over the country, including The Second City, iO Chicago, The Annoyance, Upright Citizens Brigade, The Magnet, and The Pit. Currently, several members are also on sketch comedy teams at The Pack Theater in LA.
