Frequently asked questions

1. Do I need to attend all three sessions?

Nope! While we encourage attending all three for the full benefit, each session stands on its own. Come to one, two, or all three—whatever fits your schedule and writing goals.

2. Is this event only for writers submitting to the short story contest?

Not at all! While the sprints are designed to support entries for our Third Annual Short Story Contest, any writer working on historical fiction—or looking to get started—is welcome to join. Whether you're drafting, revising, or brainstorming, this is a space for you.

3. Will there be opportunities to share my writing or get feedback during the sprint?

Yes! During the breakout room chats, you’ll have the chance to talk about what you’re working on, share your challenges, and connect with other writers. While these are not critique sessions, you may find inspiration, ideas, and support from your peers.

4. Do I need to prepare anything before attending?

Nothing formal! Just bring a notebook or document, a working idea (contest-related or not), and an openness to write and explore. If you're writing for the contest, reviewing the guidelines in advance may help you make the most of your time.
