About the Workshop

This workshop takes inspiration from Nüshu, a writing system historically created and used secretly exclusively by women in China—rooted in intimacy, rhythm and embodied emotion. Rather than reproduce its form, we draw on its spirit: writing not to explain, but to express; not for others, but for ourselves.

Participants are invited to explore the idea of female writing not as a set of rules or meanings, but as a sensory, bodily practice of expression. Using materials provided in the space—such as fabric, thread, paper, or textures—we will create writings that do not need to “make sense,” but that emerge from rhythm, memory, touch, and care.

This is a space for speculative female writing: in what context might you need a form of writing of your own? What might writing feel or look like if shaped by your cycles, experiences, and relationships?

Together, we begin with what we carry, and write from where we are.

No answers needed—just traces.
