We are Houston's only consistent poetry slam showcase. A poetry slam is a fun, energy-filled and competitive poetry event with open signups in which the best poets from Houston perform their work and are judged by random members of the audience. Typically, the host or another organizer selects the judges, who are instructed to give numerical scores (on a zero to 10 scale) based on the poets' content and performance. The high score and the low score are dropped and the rest are added to give the poet their score for that round. The top 6 scoring poets (approximately) will advance to the second round. The scores will be wiped clean from the first to the second round and the poets will go in order of lowest scoring to highest scoring poets from the first round in the second round. The top 3 scores from the second round win cash prizes. 2 Rounds.
