Join us for a tour of the Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) facilities and see firsthand how we sort recyclables at our advanced Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), how we compost green waste, and how we safely process hazardous waste. Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through the process (including explaining how the state-of-the-art sorting equipment works) and answer all your questions.

These general public tours are designed for individuals and groups smaller than 10. If you are interested in a business/organization, a larger group tour, or a school tour, please request one by submitting the appropriate form on our website.

WPWMA Tours are walking tours that are approximately one mile in length and include several sets of stairs. Please be aware that this is a working industrial facility and may not be an ideal space for those who are sensitive to loud noises, dust, or tight spaces.

Is there a fee to attend a tour?

No, all WPWMA Public Tours are free and open to the public for anyone over 16 years of age.

I want to go on a WPWMA Tour with friends/family/others, can they join me?

Yes, as long as everyone in your party is 16 or older and registered through Eventbrite, they are welcome to attend (you can even register them yourself). We require ALL tour participants to pre-register to attend for safety, staffing, and tracking purposes.

Can I bring my kids?

Unfortunately, public tours are only available for kids 16 and older. We do offer tours for children younger than 16, these tours are age-appropriate and align with educational standards for grade levels. Please submit the appropriate form on our website (https://wpwma.ca.gov/tours) to schedule one.

I am interested in attending a tour with a group that is larger than 10, can we still attend?

Public Tours are designed for individuals and groups smaller than 10. We are happy to accommodate groups larger than 10 with our Business & Organization Tours. Please submit the appropriate form on our website (https://wpwma.ca.gov/tours) to schedule one.
