Join us in the beautiful Martha Walker Native Habitat Garden at Skyline Wilderness Park

for a Worm and Backyard Composting Workshop!

Saturday, September 6th from 10:00am - 12:00pm

Learn to reduce and eliminate yard trimmings and turn them into wonderfully rich compost for your garden! Discover the basics of backyard composting, composting with worms and grass cycling. Become familiar with tools, types of bins and the ins and outs of recycling yard trimmings, garden waste, and even some food scraps.

In this workshop you will learn all about both worm and backyard home composting - After the workshop concludes Napa County residents will have the opportunity to purchase either a discounted home compost bin for $20.00 (One bin per household) OR build a Worm composting bin for free. (One per family)

Worm class attendees will receive a free worm compost tool kit, including the worms that you will set up with the UC Master Gardeners to take home! Anyone may attend the workshop, however you must be a resident of Napa County in order to purchase the subsidized backyard compost bin. ($20, valued at $90)

Pre-registration is required, and space is limited, so please RSVP to reserve your spot and note which bin you are interested in. There is no Park entrance fee to attend the workshop at Skyline. Please follow the signs after stopping to speak with the gate attendant. Parking is located by the building in the garden area.

Classes are brought to you by The Master Gardeners of Napa County, in partnership with The City of Napa's Recycling Division, Napa County, and Upper Valley Waste Management.

Organized by

The City of Napa's Solid Waste and Recycling Division works to educate residents on how to recycle better and divert organic materials (like food scraps, soiled paper, and yard waste) from the landfill. We sponsor events and programs that bring awareness to reuse options, landfill reduction, encourage environmental stewardship, and strengthen food recovery opportunities locally.
