About this event

A new Next-Step Program from WRJI

The Worlds within Wellesley: A Conversation on Power, Privilege and Intersectionality

About this ONLINE event:

While we all went to Wellesley College, people of color (POC) often experience our alma mater in vastly different ways than their white classmates. Even in “women-centered spaces," white people can, either intentionally or unintentionally, marginalize, dismiss and harm Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC). In this workshop, we will discuss the intersections of race and gender, the resulting distribution of power and privilege, and how it impacts the dynamic within the Wellesley community.

Please be prepared to make a donation of $25, $50 or whatever you can afford,* to cover professional facilitation and administration.

*Please do not permit an inability to donate keep you from participating.

Organizer of Worlds within Wellesley: Power, Privilege & Intersectionality

The Wellesley Racial Justice Initiative (WRJI) is an independent movement of Wellesley Sisters and Siblings.

The mission of the WRJI is to actively promote racial justice in our national culture and practice, as well as the wider world community, advancing inclusion and eliminating both institutional and internalized racism. We provide resources to inform and promote the work, and amplify the work of Wellesley Alums of Color to further their impact.

We seek to:

EDUCATE ourselves and the Wellesley network through courageous dialogue and informative resources;

AMPLIFY the voices of those who are working to end racism;

ACTIVATE the Wellesley network to bring about equity in their families, communities, and institutions;

TRANSFORM ourselves and our world.
