Line, Shape and Composition 2-Day

Break down what makes abstract art successful to learn how to create a great abstract piece using your own unique marks, your favorite shapes and combining it into a powerful composition!

Friday November 14th - 2pm to 4pm

Friday November 21st - 2pm to 4pm*

Day 1 is about learning to make intuitive expressive marks with different tools, like oil pastel pencil and crayon.

Day 2 is about shapes and finding out what your favorite shapes are and how you can make them in different ways using stencil etc.

Composing with confidence - Using what you have learnt about the relationship between shapes and line you will compose an amazing abstract piece. We will break down the elements of a painting and learn about what makes them stand out. You will learn to develop your own visual language as well; this class teaches you how to sharpen your visual eye.

All materials will be provided and all levels are welcome.

Instructor Biography:

Jocelyn Chemel was born in South Africa, lived in Boston for over 30 years and has recently moved to Delray Beach. Jocelyn studied design, printmaking and mixed media at the Museum School in Boston. She also taught decorative painting techniques for many years as well as mixed media to adults. Her teaching style allows students to open up their creative flow in a safe non-judgemental environment . She loves seeing artistic expression happen through practices like mandala making, mystical landscape and collage.
