Fugu Fugu Press at Archetype Press: Workshop
Date: Saturday, June 28th
Time: 10 AM—5 PM
Location: ArtCenter College of Design [South Campus] Archetype Press
ArtCenter’s Archetype Press (California’s largest letterpress printing facility) is thrilled to welcome Fugu FuguPress — the beloved Altadena letterpress studio of husband-and-wife duo Ken and Shino Charlson — for a special workshop celebrating the LA Design Festival track “Revenge of Analog.” Known for their charming illustrations, clean design and joyful use of color, Fugu Fugu Press brings a fresh, playful spirit to traditional letterpress printing.
Workshop: Charming Prints — Greeting Card Design with Fugu Fugu Press
In this one-day, hands-on workshop, Ken and Shino will guide participants through the process of designing and printing their own greeting cards using classic letterpress techniques. From setting type and carving simple imagery to inking and printing on Vandercook presses, you’ll explore the tactile beauty of analog design — and take home a small edition of your own original cards.
Paper for the Fugu Fugu Workshop has been generously donated by Kelly Spicers, the West’s leading distributor of paper and packaging.
A special conversation with Fugu Fugu Press/Ken and Shino Charlson will follow the workshop at 6:00 p.m.
