Event description
Are you a novice Ham? Learn how to use your Amateur (Ham) Radio for Emergency Communications, and support BNN!

About this Event

The BNN (Burlingame Neighborhood Network) and the San Mateo Radio Club are sponsoring this workshop for newly licensed Amateur Radio "Hams".

Agenda:

9am to 10am - Lecture

10am to 10:30am - Q&A / break

10:30am to Noon - Optional hands-on training on radio use and programming with experienced Ham coaches. Bring your Radio, Programming Cable, and Laptop if you have them.

**NOTE: If you plan to stay for the hands-on lab, you'll (a) need to bring an amateur radio, and (b) have a valid FCC amateur radio license (if you want to practice transmitting).

If you don't have a radio yet, here is a quick guide to selecting and buying your first radio: New Ham Radio Buying Guide

If you don't have your FCC license, here is a way to study: http://www.HamTestOnline.com

There is no charge, but space is limited.

Registration in advance is highly appreciated, but not required, due to room limitations. Registered guests take priority.
