Workshop for Educators: Exploring Fiber Arts
Overview
Known as the “Lint Lady,” Slater Barron uses discarded lint to create sculptures and large-scale portraits, often exploring ideas of memory. In this session, participants will receive a tour of Slater Barron’s work and reflect on her use of recycled and frequently discarded materials, as well as their connection to capturing memories. Inspired by Barron’s felting techniques, participants will then explore felting to create their own portraits.
Light refreshments will be served.
This session will take place at LBMA Downtown.
The Long Beach Museum of Art Educator Workshops are generously supported by the BCM Foundation.
