ABOUT THE BOOK

A Step-By-Step Guide for Building Intentional Connections in the Writing Industry

Are you tired of navigating the writing world unsure if you're doing it the right way? This practical workbook has the tools to help you build and strengthen connections. As a writer, building a network of clients, readers, publishers, or producers who support your work can be challenging. In Networking for Writers, you'll learn:

  • To customize networking to your goals, personal style, and interests.
  • To determine who you need in your network and where the gaps are
  • How to forge authentic, mutually beneficial relationships
  • How not to network
  • How to harness the power of social media and your website to position yourself as a knowledgeable professional who people want in their own network

Your dream of being a successful full-time writer doesn't have to be just a dream. By the end of the book, you'll have an actionable and fully realized networking plan, you'll discover how to expand your network, grow your profitable, and increase your income in the process.

Networking for Writers is based on the already successful Networking for Freelance Editors (2021). Award-winning indie author and nonfiction editor Linda Ruggeri shares what she's learned from meeting and working with hundreds of writers throughout her career.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Linda Ruggeri is a bilingual (EN/SP) nonfiction editor and writer based out of Napa Valley, California, the author of Networking for Writers (nominated as an IBPA Book Award finalist) and the co-author of Networking for Freelance Editors: Practical Strategies for Networking Success (IBPA Silver Medal Award, 2022).

She graduated cum laude from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Communications and Fine Arts. She’s directed the Editorial Freelancers Association Welcome Program, the Professional Editors Network mentorship program, and has presented at writing and publishing conferences across the US. She is a founding member of The Networking Studio as well as the Argentinean-based writer community Tres Vías Creativas (@3vc.crea).

Born to immigrant parents in Los Angeles, Linda is Latinx and a first-generation American. She loves to travel and has lived in Córdoba (Argentina), Naples and Salerno (Italy), Windsor (Canada), Green Lake (Wisconsin), Los Angeles, and now Napa Valley (California). Besides being an editor, Linda is an avid urban gardener and baker, a writer and a mom, and would gladly trade any night out for a tent in the California redwoods with a good nonfiction book.

Napa Bookmine opened its doors in downtown Napa on Friday the 13th, September 2013. In spite of our superstitious start date, we've since grown to hold over 25,000 books - used and new - and feature a year round calendar of community events including author events, book clubs, game nights + more! It's our hope to provide a welcoming, safe, inspiring place for our community to gather and celebrate the love of books. There's something for everyone through Bookmine's doors!

We opened our second location within the bustling Oxbow Public Market in 2016. Located between Hudson Greens & Goods and Eiko's, our market stall offers all new books and an expanded gift selection including greeting cards, convenient sundries, and other unique, fun items. We consider this shop to be our little way of sneaking more books into highly populated public spaces ;)

Whether you're a local to the Napa Valley or simply visiting Wine Country, we invite you to stop by any of our stores to say hi and grab a good book (or two - we won't judge).
