This Wizeline Academy Workshop will teach you to get started with Kubernetes and Protobuf! Our first bi-national event will feature a live speaker in Guadalajara at Wizeline and a speaker in Bogota, Colombia (over livestream) at Google Developer's Group Bogota.

Part 1: Introduction to Protobuf: An extensible mechanism for serializing structured data

Jorge will give an introduction to the assistants to Protocol Buffers and learn the pros and cons of this over JSON-structured data. Swift-protobuf will be presented, a perfect complement for Protobuf since both emphasize high performance and programmer safety.

Part 2: ​Deploying Protobuf-based backend app with Kubernetes

León will teach how to use Google's Protobuf technology to manage clusters for microservices. Protocol buffers are Google's language-neutral, platform-neutral, extensible mechanism for serializing structured data – think XML, but smaller, faster, and simpler.

About the Speakers

León García, DevOps Lead at Wizeline

León holds a degree in Computer Systems Engineer from the Universidad Autonoma de Aguascalientes and earned a Master in Security and Networks from Universidad del País Vasco. He has 15 years of experience at companies such as Google, BCBL, Oracle. He is currently team lead of DevOps at Wizeline and has been focusing in Cloud Technologies and Automation.

Jorge Ovalle, Software Engineer at Wizeline

Jorge holds a degree in Systems Engineering from El Bosque University in Bogotá, Colombia. He's passionate about cutting-edge technology and he has been working with Swift since its first version. Jorge has been involved in several mobile projects around the globe. He collaborated with different companies such as MTV, Fusion TV, and Israel Innovation Institute.
