Join artist Sam Northcut (MFA '25) to learn to make paper quilts in this 2-part workshop! Starting with the basics of large sheet paper making, participants will make 6' x 4' sheets as a group, which will be used as the material for individual 10" x 10" paper quilt sample. Participants will also be able to select from a variety of additional handmade paper for their quilt blocks. We will cover the basics of paper making including an explanation on beating fiber, dyeing, and forming a sheet and the basics of quilting with paper including cutting, sewing a quilt top, quilting, and binding. Basic sewing experience is required and no paper making experience is required.
