Wine Down Wendesday: Rebuilding Identity After Carrying the Emotional Load

Overview

Fear, guilt, confusion, exhaustion, loneliness, shame, love, hope, and everything in between.

Dive into the emotions of staying, leaving, and everything in between during Wine Down Wednesday. This supportive space is for military spouses, veteran spouses, and caregivers—whether you’re married, separated, or divorced. No matter where you are in your journey, you’re welcome here.

Many of us stay silent because we fear judgment, don’t want to burden anyone, or don’t want someone telling us what we “should” do. This circle isn’t about choosing for you — it’s about offering a place to breathe, think out loud, and feel supported while navigating a situation that feels impossible.

🦋 This month’s conversation starter: Rebuilding Identity After Carrying the Emotional Load

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and thought, “I don’t even know who I am anymore,” this session is for you.

When you become the emotional backbone of the home, managing his moods, keeping the peace, anticipating stress, protecting the kids, and trying to stay strong—you slowly fade into the background. This month, we’re exploring identity loss, feeling invisible, and the brave, gentle process of coming back home to yourself.

But like always, there’s no script, just a space for whatever you’re carrying.

Whether you're still in the relationship, considering leaving, or rebuilding after separation, you are welcome here.

What to Expect:

  • A small, welcoming group of women who get it
  • A light reflection prompt to open the space
  • Real talk, real connection, zero judgment
  • Camera-on or off welcome
  • Bring your wine, tea, snacks, or whatever feels like comfort

Facilitated By: Alunya Clark

Alunya Clark, founder of Circle of Unity Support, is a former military and veteran spouse who has lived the highs, lows, and heartbreaks of this journey. She knows what it feels like to hold everything together while quietly falling apart, and she knows the courage it takes to leave, rebuild, and start life all over again.

Through her own personal experience navigating PTSD in the home, emotional exhaustion, separation, and rediscovering her identity, Alunya created this space so no spouse or caregiver has to go through it alone. She brings compassion, lived experience, and deep understanding to every conversation, holding space for women who are still in it, thinking about leaving, or piecing themselves back together after starting over.
