One of the major grapes of Bordeaux blends, Cabernet Franc is a parent of both Cabernet Sauvignon (the King of Red Grapes) and Merlot, as well as Carmenere (the Lost Bordeaux grape, now planted extensively in Chile). In this class, we will taste some examples of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet, Merlot, and Carmenere, to see the progression of the genetics when combined with other grapes, as well as the role Cabernet Franc can play in blends when combined with other compatible grapes.
