Wildlife Draw-Along with the Artful Ranger
Overview
Mark is a professional wildlife artist and ranger, combining a love of nature with creativity. In this special half-hour session, he will guide pupils step-by-step in drawing an autumnal wildlife species, while sharing stories from his work and career.
Pupils will be able to ask Mark questions about life as an artist, how he turns his passion for wildlife into a career, and tips for anyone who wants to explore art and nature in their future.
Mark will share how the pathway to a career in conservation doesn't have to be clear-cut and straightforward. He studied A-level and Foundation Art and Design at college, and went on to gain a diploma in Model Making and a degree in Fine Art painting. After teaching for ten years, he then completed a traineeship in Land Management, and has worked for the Wildlife Trusts, Natural England and the National Trust as a Countryside Ranger. Throughout his career he has combined his creativity with conservation, producing and exhibiting artwork under the name 'The Artful Ranger'.
No special equipment is needed - just paper, a pencil, and curiosity!
