About the Training

Register here.

USGBC-CA, with technical support from Arup and our Wildfire Defense Advisory Committee, developed the Wildfire Rebuilding Guide to support those affected by the recent fires in the Los Angeles area. This group of experts in wildfire recovery, sustainable building, and community resilience has identified key early decisions that homeowners and building professionals will face and provides guidance to help them make the best decisions on their pathway to rebuilding. If you are a homeowner, business owner, contractor, architect, urban planner, landscape architect, or resident of a fire-affected community looking to rebuild a resilient and sustainable home or a professional looking to deepen your understanding and skillset in sustainable design and building, this certificate is for you!

This training offers guidance, resources, best practices, materials and other tools designed to support contractors, construction professionals, and landscapers during the post-climate disaster rebuilding process. The goal is to increase the capacity and knowledge around resilient and green building principles and to underscore best practices in high-road contracting. Our goal is to collaborate with partners across our region to provide comprehensive resources and support towards a greener and more resilient future.

About Resilient Palisades

Resilient Palisades brings together neighbors and local institutions to address the climate and ecological crisis. We are harnessing our collective energy to help build a resilient future for our community and for the city and parkland that surrounds us. Pacific Palisades becomes a national model for post-disaster recovery—rebuilding resilient, regenerative neighborhoods powered by clean energy and electrification. Since the fires, we have developed our ‘Guiding Principles’ for Rebuilding which emphasize an integrative framework (reimagine, regenerate, and rebuild for people, planet, and progress) to mitigate future fire hazards and center resiliency so that our community will withstand and recover quickly from future risks, including fire, heat, drought, sea level rise, etc.

About Department of Angels

The Department of Angels is an independent nonprofit formed in the immediate aftermath of the January 2025 Los Angeles fires. We exist to make sure fire-impacted communities in Los Angeles can lead their own recovery — on their terms — with the support, resources, and know-how they need to thrive. We blend community organizing, policy advocacy, and expert-informed solutions. As a trusted link across silos, we work to turn crisis into opportunity for community-driven recovery – because no one should have to navigate it alone.
