Wil Fleming on "Strong Mind"
Overview
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Strong Mind is a practical guide to the mental side of performance—from the training hall to the competition platform and beyond. Written by international weightlifting and high-performance mindset coach Wil Fleming, this book bridges sport psychology and real-world coaching to help athletes build confidence, focus, and resilience when it matters most.
Inside, you’ll learn the same mental training tools Wil has used with Olympians, world champions, and national medalists, including goal setting, visualization, pre-performance routines, self-talk, and the Fix-It Framework for bouncing back after setbacks.
Each chapter pairs clear explanations with actionable strategies, reflective prompts, and real athlete stories to help you develop your own Strong Mind system. Whether you’re chasing a PR or coaching someone who is, this book will help you train your mind with the same intention and discipline you bring to your body.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
From the warm-up room to the world stage, Wil Fleming has spent decades helping athletes lift more than just weight—he's helped them lift their game when it matters most.
Fleming is a 2024 Team USA Olympic Weightlifting Coach, Masters World Champion, and one of the most sought-after voices in strength and performance. Over nearly 30 years in the sport, he's helped athletes succeed at every level—from first-time competitors to Olympians.
His passion for Strong Mind began in his own athletic career, after leaving the 2008 Olympic Trials knowing he hadn't brought his best—not from lack of training, but from not having the mental tools to handle the moment. That experience drives his mission to ensure no athlete he coaches ever wonders "what if?"
Now pursuing a master's degree in Sport and Performance Psychology, Wil blends decades of coaching experience with proven mental strategies to help athletes perform their best when it matters most.
He lives in Indiana with his family, where he still lifts heavy, drinks too much coffee, and coaches nine different youth sports teams.
