EVENT DESCRIPTION
Brains crave autonomy—for mental health, resilience, and lasting motivation. And it’s not just neurotypical brains; all brains need it.
In this Neurodiversity Education Series event, Bill Stixrud, PhD, and Ned Johnson will unpack the science of motivation and mental health, and share how parents, caregivers, and educators can nurture the autonomy children need to thrive—both academically and emotionally.
Dr. William Stixrud is a clinical neuropsychologist and a faculty member at Children’s National Medical Center and George Washington University Medical School. He also serves on the board of the David Lynch Foundation.
Ned Johnson is the founder of PrepMatters and a sought-after speaker, writer, and coach on study skills, parent-teen dynamics, and anxiety management. Stixrud and Johnson are the bestselling authors of The Self-Driven Child , What Do You Day? and The Seven Principles for Raising a Self-Driven Child.
Parents/caregivers, students, educators, and community members welcome! Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be available. Free admission.
