Why Europe needs a multi-hazard approach to disaster risk assessment .
Overview
MYRIAD–EU is an EU H2020 which aimed at developing a broad range of solutions and tools to enable decision-makers and practitioners to adopt a new approach to disaster risk management. Five EU regions—the Danube, Scandinavia, North Sea, Veneto, and Canary Islands – were involved in pilot projects on how local actions can drive systemic change in disaster risk reduction.
As part of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2025, themed "Shaping Tomorrow, Together," this roundtable session will highlight the critical role of regions in shaping a resilient, sustainable future for Europe. The MYRIAD-EU project offers a groundbreaking, multi-sector approach to disaster risk reduction, focusing on the interconnected risks facing our communities, from floods and wildfires to droughts and heatwaves. In a time of escalating climate change impacts, MYRIAD-EU empowers regional authorities to address these challenges by developing innovative tools, strategies, and policies tailored to local contexts.
Join us to explore how regions can lead the way in fostering collaboration across various sectors, including energy, agriculture, finance, and infrastructure. Together, we’ll discuss how MYRIAD-EU is helping to shape a safer, more prepared Europe for the future. This roundtable, in celebration of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, will bring together stakeholders, experts, and policymakers to chart the course for a resilient tomorrow, together.
