From Career Fire Captain/ Paramedic and due to injury I had to retire and lost my purpose. I didn't know it at the time but I was already suffering from PTSD and when I had to retire and lost my purpose it really sent me into a deep depression that ultimately alm ended in tragedy and thru my journey on the road to recovery my intention is to inform others of the dangers of mental trauma suffered by 1st responders and what signs to look for in ourselves and others. Only thru open dialogue can we truly break the stigmatization surrounding mental health and ultimately end suicides among the 1st responder community.
