What Respectful Care Actually Looks Like: Lessons from The JJ Way®
Overview
Across the United States, Black and Brown birthing people continue to face disproportionate risks in pregnancy and childbirth — not because of their bodies, but because of systemic inequities and disrespect in care. Jennie Joseph’s groundbreaking model, The JJ Way®, offers a proven, community-based approach to changing that reality.
In this dynamic and deeply engaging session, Jennie brings her signature interactive and non-colonial approach to teaching — inviting participants to reflect, respond, and connect through conversation and live surveys. Together, we’ll explore what respectful, community-centered care truly looks like in practice, and how each of us can be part of creating change across all levels of the perinatal landscape.
What You’ll Learn:
✅ The four pillars of The JJ Way® and how they transform outcomes for families
✅ How systemic inequities create barriers to respectful, high-quality maternity care
✅ Practical strategies to build trust, connection, and respect in every client interaction
✅ How to apply the principles of The JJ Way® in clinical, community, and advocacy settings
✅ Why community-rooted, culturally congruent care is essential for birth equity
