What Global Skills Look Like in the Workforce (and Why Recruiters Care)
Overview
When you hear “global skills,” you might think of studying abroad or speaking another language. While those absolutely are, the definition of global skills is actually much broader. In this session, you’ll hear directly from a recruiter about what “global” really means in the workplace and why these skills are among the most in-demand across industries. But by definition, global skills are actually a lot broader.
They’re the soft skills that allow you to work effectively with anyone, anywhere: things like collaboration, communication, adaptability, problem-solving, and working with people different from yourself. These are the skills that make someone thrive in a global workforce — whether that skill was built during a semester abroad, a group project, a part-time job, or campus leadership.
In this session, you’ll hear directly from a recruiter about why these skills are among the most in-demand across industries. Then, through a hands-on activity, you’ll identify your own global skills and practice translating them into language that stands out on applications and in interviews.
