What Empowers Women is a Fiero Flair produced micro-documentary that examines how work, appearances, and relationships influence female self-concepts, self-worth, and self-empowerment. It features candid interviews by attendees of the 2015 Girl Power! Women Working in the Music Industry Conference who enlighten and inspire women to fulfill their potential and dreams with their personal stories and keen insights into achievement and success.

What Empowers Women was produced by Gian Fiero, co-founder of Fiero Flair; edited by seasoned filmmaker Mike Montoya, and scored by Grammy nominated music producer Cori Jacobs (who will all be joining us at Premiere). The documentary is psychology based, runs 18 minutes in length, and will serve as the focal point of a brief panel discussion with guest speakers who will offer more insights into female empowerment. Networking will take place immediately following the premiere.

Zakiya Harris

Musically, Zakiyah Harris is an afro-eclectic mix of soul, dance and theater, and is self-described as a Shapeshifter. She is also a social change strategist, educator, artist. She works at the intersection of entrepreneurship, environmental education & creative transformation. Zakiya is a co-founder of the nationally recognized projects Impact Hub Oakland, Grind for the Green, Earthseed Consulting, and a Fellow of Green For All and Bold Food and Chief Education Officer and Co-founder of Hack the Hood.

Catherine Enny

Catherine Enny founded Guerrilla Management overseeing the careers of artists such as Fu Manchu, The Dwarves, Sean Yseault of White Zombie/Famous Monsters, and Josh Homme/ Queens Of The Stone Age. In 2000 she signed Michael Franti & Spearhead. Franti and Guerrilla Management went on to develop an enterprise approach to the marketing of a lifestyle. This venture continues and with major success from producing 80,000 capacity Power To The Peaceful Festival for 12 years and producing internationally award winning documentary film “I Know I'm Not Alone.” In 2013 Catherine co-produced a double soundtrack album w/film director, Steve Brown, Grammy-Award winning producer/songwriter Dan Wilson and legendary DJ/label owner, Tim Fielding (Journeymans) for "Spark: A Burning Man Story. Catherine is often a panelist at various events speaking on such subjects as strategic partnerships with global brands, early adoption of technologies, creative DIY marketing, engaging humanitarian campaigns within entertainment world, and fan base connection. We use music as an instrument to make social change and have fun doing it.

Emma Mayerson, Executive Director, Alliance for Girls

Emma Mayerson is the Founding Director of Alliance for Girls (AFG), a membership association of more than 130 organizations and individuals serving more than 250,000 girls in the Bay Area. Under Ms. Mayerson’s leadership AFG has become the largest alliance of girls’ organizations and champions in the nation, working collectively to ensure girl-serving organizations are more connected, more effective and better able to prepare the girls of today to be the leaders of tomorrow. Before Alliance, Emma worked as a community organizer for the Progressive Jewish Alliance and in development for organizations including the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco and the Women's Foundation of California.
