The Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture (CSRPC) at the University of Chicago is a hub of research and an incubator of anti-racist practice. We advance scholraship, arts and public dialogue about the centrality of race and racism in the systems we inhabit.

The Beyond Prisons Initiative actively engages University of Chicago students and community members in solutions to racialized policing and mass incarceration in the United States through the lens of deep research, experiential learning, and critical community-building. In its first five years, under the leadership of Director of Beyond Prisons Lab Alice Kim, the Lab operated out of and with support from the Pozen Family Center for Human Rights, formerly known as the 'Human Rights Lab.'
