Join us for a beginner wet walk at the CREW Flint Pen Strand Trails. Starting at the Pinewoods Parking Lot, you'll dip your toes into the world of wet walks with this introductory wet walk through a seasonal marsh, cypress swamp, and pine flatwoods. Discover the beauty and importance of wet season at CREW as we explore these unique ecosystems together.

Water levels will range from dry to a few inches to up to 3 feet.

Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and plenty of drinking water are required. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, walking sticks, shade umbrellas, and dry bags/backpacks for your phone/keys are recommended. Rain boots, waders, flip flops, crocs, and other open-toe shoes are NOT allowed. Walking sticks will be available to borrow.

What is your refund policy?

Refund requests made at least 48 hours before the event's start time will be honored. Eventbrite fees are non-refundable.

Who should participate in this wet walk?

Folks comfortable walking on uneven, unpaved terrain and through water up to 3 feet in depth are invited to attend. Folks with mobility difficulties, intense heat or sun sensitivities, or who cannot comfortably walk 1.5 miles in 2 hours are not recommended to attend

What is the terrain like?

This wet walk will include both dry and wet sections. Dry sections will be uneven, unpaved trails made of grass, mud, and sand. Wet sections will have dark water up to 3 ft deep, be soft, uneven, and muddy, and include roots, cypress knees, and some blades of grass 4+ ft in height

What should I wear?

Closed toe tennis shoes and long pants are the appropriate attire for the walk. Breathable long-sleeve shirts, sunglasses, and hats are recommended. Rain boots, waders, flip flops, crocs, and other open toe shoes are NOT allowed. There are no changing facilities at CREW, so please plan accordingly

What should I bring?

Plenty of water for during and after the hike, sun block, bug spray, a hiking stick, a shade umbrella, and a dry bag/backpack for your phone/keys are recommended. Walking sticks will be available to borrow.

Can I bring my pet?

No, pets are not invited to attend this event.

Will there be shade?

This wet walk will be partially shaded but mostly in the sun. Lightweight umbrellas are welcomed!

Will there be stinging insects?

Yes, stinging insects like bees, wasps, and others are residents of the CREW trails, but stings are rare. However, if you have a life-threatening allergy to stinging insects, please have your medical supplies on your person during the hike and alert your guide to your allergy upon your arrival.

Are there water fountains at CREW?

No, there are no water fountains or water bottle filling stations available at CREW, so please plan accordingly by bringing lots of water.

Are there trash cans at CREW?

No, there are no trash cans at CREW, so please plan accordingly.

Are there restrooms at CREW?

Yes, we have portatoliets available in the parking lot only, so please plan accordingly.

CREW Land & Water Trust

The CREW Land & Water Trust was established in 1989 as a nonprofit organization to coordinate the land acquisition, land management, and public use of the 60,000-acre Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed. We work closely with our partners, the South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to ensure the protection of the watershed. This watershed, the largest intact watershed in south Florida, straddles Lee and Collier Counties and provides aquifer recharge, natural flood protection, water purification, preservation of wildlife habitat, and public recreation.  CREW's majestic 5,000-acre marsh is the headwaters for the entire watershed.

Members only registration week is SEPTEMBER 1st-8th. Non-members may register after September 8th.
