Welding with Darcy After School Spring 2026 (8 weeks, Ages 12-15)

Each after-school session focuses on hands-on projects meant to engage busy hands and expand curious minds. Programming spans from woodshop to welding to computer aided art and design to videography and animation.

What if electricity, heat, time, and skill could stick pieces of metal together? You’ll spend 8 weeks doing just that! Learn how to arc weld from skilled artists and professionals and make some cool stuff out of metal. This program is designed for beginners with no prior experience in welding.

Learning Outcomes:

• Physics: Electricity
• Physics: Arc welding
• Safe use of metal shop equipment, including cutting and grinding tools
• 3D design of welded objects

Accessibility notes

• Students will be exposed to a dusty space with loud machinery.
• Students will be asked to stand upright and focus at a machine for periods of time.
• Welding students are required to wear personal protective equipment, which includes a welding hood, pants that cover their legs, and a long sleeve leather jacket. Socks are required. No yoga pants, athletic shoes, or Crocs are permitted.
