Who organizes this event? Are there personal trainers?

The QLC is organized by two queer and trans individuals, Max Reddy and Ryan Haché. They are always happy to provide weightlifting guidance based on their experiences working out for anyone interested. Some attendees at the club are certified personal trainers who are open to sharing their knowledge.

Is the location (St. Peter's Lutheran Church) queer friendly?

Accepted Answer

Yes, St. Peter's Lutheran Church is a queer friendly church! The pastor, secretary, and council have been working towards making the church a more welcoming place for queer people. They have allowed us to use their space with no rent costs.

Are beginners welcome?

Beginners are always welcome! In fact, a majority of attendees are beginners!

Am I too young/old to join?

Accepted Answer

Is it okay if I'm late for the meetup?

Always! Our lifting meetups are drop-in events, so you can come at whatever time suits you during the drop-in hours.

Question 7

Where can I change my clothes? Where can I put my belongings?

Accepted Answer

There are two restrooms where you can change your clothes if you want to. There is plenty of space to put your belongings. There is also plenty of space on the coat racks for jackets and sweaters.

Question 8

Is there a dress code?

Accepted Answer

There is no dress code; just wear clothes that you're comfortable working out in. Don't worry about bringing an "indoor" pair of shoes unless your shoes are going to be muddy. If your shoes are muddy and you don't have an extra pair, there's no problem with wearing socks while working out.
