Do you want to learn how to make poi like Hawaii's ancestral people? If yes, this is Hawaiiʻs longest on going weekly Poi making workshop
Traditional poi making using a papa and pohaku kuiai (board and stone for poi making) was banned in 1911. A small band of visionaries came together in 2010 and in 2011 changed the laws of Hawaii to recognize this important cultural and traditional food practice.
Learn the basic concepts of traditional poi making. Use a pohaku and pohaku kuiai made by poi making professional and have a hands on experince preparing your own fresh paiai or poi.
Take home to eat what you make. Fresh cooked kalo $10 per pound. $45 per person, $25 for kids up to 12. This workshop takes an average of two hours.
Includes subsistence farm tour.
