We will be closing our all-weekend gathering with an Ancestor Workshop presented by local academic practitioner Jamie, sharing their personal experience and study of ancestor veneration, family lineage and honoring the season of remembrance through an interactive and informative discussion, as well as a community altar building experience.
Jamie is a practicing witch whose interest in paganism and witchcraft stems from a deep desire to reconnect with the folk traditions and nature-based religions of her European ancestors. With a background in social justice education, she advocates for indigenous spiritualities as pathways to reconnection, re-enchantment, and resistance to the individualism and consumerism driving ecological and spiritual collapse. Her practice is influenced by several traditions including Wicca, Reclaiming, and those associated with the feminist Goddess movement.
Jamie is currently pursuing a PhD in Women’s Spirituality, where her research explores how witchcraft and paganism can function as antiracist praxis in the dismantling of whiteness.
