Weed’em Out: Cascade Creek Restoration with Pie Ranch and AMLT
Come and celebrate the longest day of the year at Cascade Ranch and help in Amah Mutsun Land Trust and Pie Ranch's joint efforts to remove invasive plants from Cascade Creek. No experience necessary: we will provide tools, guidance, and demonstrations! It will be a day to meet new people, spend time outside, learn about native palnts, and help restore the ancestral lands of the Quiroste tribe.
Why are we doing this?
Cascade Ranch, leased and operated by nonprofit Pie Ranch, is within an area of high biological richness, unique in that it is surrounded by protected lands. The 1.2 miles of Cascade Creek within Cascade Ranch represents an important habitat connectivity area for a wide array of plants and animals and a potential traditional food source for people. Cascade Creek has been affected by the spread of invasive plant species, causing loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Removing these invasvie species is critical to restoring riparian ecosytems, which promote climate and fire resilience, which is now more important than ever. We show solidarity to the work that local tribal bands have been doing for years to make native plants available again to everyone.

9:15am - 12pm: Invasive Species Removal
Please do your best to arrive on time so that you do not miss our orientaiton and so we can all move to the creek area together!
*Visitor parking in front of the first white barn as you enter the Ranch*

- Sturdy work boots or closed-toed shoes
- Long sleeved shirt

NOTE: We will be working in areas possibly inhabited with posion oak and prickly plants such as blackberries, thimbleberries, and stinging nettle. Due to the rough terrain, this event is best suited for those aged 16 and up.
