Wee-Write: Writing Club

Join 826Michigan and Brilliant Detroit and help young learners, ages 5-8, become published authors! This joyful writing program invites our youngest writers to explore the magic of storytelling through play, creativity, and imagination. Each week, children gather to discover what writing can do—spark ideas, tell stories, and give their thoughts a voice.

Through engaging stories, playful games, and hands-on activities, students are inspired to create their own original work. Wee-Writers collaborate in small groups with caring, trained volunteers who encourage confidence and creativity every step of the way. Writing is approached in many accessible forms, from drawing and dictating ideas to group conversations and early writing practice, ensuring every child can participate in a way that feels comfortable and exciting.

By the end of the program, students not only experience the joy of self-expression but also celebrate the pride of becoming published authors—building early literacy skills and a lifelong love of writing. ✏️📚
