Weaving: The Art of 3-Dimensional Weaving on a 4-Harness Loom with Rae Gold
Overview
4-Part Series
Date: Saturdays, January 10, 17, 24, 31, 2025
Time: 10am-4pm
Description: Spend your Saturdays in January in the Flesichner Family Fibers Loft weaving and playing on looms with the luminous fiber artist, Rae Gold!
This 4-part series is designed to introduce you to the world of three-dimensional weaving on a four-harness loom. Rae will guide you through the process as you explore the myriad possibilities and variations for creativity. You can expect to play with and expand techniques of double weave, as well as off loom strategies and maniputlations to create 3-dimensional pieces. This course is meant for weavers who have taken the weave one series, or its equivalent, and have some experience with a 4-harness loom.
There will be plenty of time to play at the looms, creating samples, over the course of the 4 weeks. Then, Rae will guide you through the completion of a finished work of art from one of your samples, working through strategies for integrating mechanisms for display, hanging and mounting into your piece too!
This is a special event in the fibers studio! We hope that you can join, and along with Rae, we hope that through the course, you will find your creative world opening up with many new ideas!
Oh, and the looms will be dressed for you!!!! You get to come in on day one and start throwing a shuttle!
Fun note: when we were first talking about this course offering, Rae described it as, ""Mess around, screw up and see what happens with 4 harnesses!"
