Recovery Group Guidelines:

Our goal is to create a safe, supportive space where participants can engage authentically while working toward recovery. These guidelines are designed to promote a compassionate, non-judgmental environment that encourages reflection, growth, and connection.

Confidentiality and Safety: What is shared in the group remains confidential. Participants are expected to respect each other’s privacy and personal stories. To protect everyone’s recovery, no discussion of numbers, weight, calories, or diet plans is permitted.

Judgment-Free Atmosphere: This group is a judgment-free space where all experiences, feelings, and challenges are met with empathy and compassion. Participants are encouraged to be kind to themselves and others, recognizing that recovery looks different for everyone.

Optional Meal Support: Eating during group is allowed for those who need to have a meal or snack during the session. While meals are not required, participants who choose to eat are encouraged to select options that are adequate and aligned with their recovery goals. The focus is on modeling recovery-oriented behaviors and creating a safe space for eating, without judgment or pressure.

Minimizing Distractions: To maintain a focused and mindful environment, participants are asked to minimize distractions, including electronic devices, during the group session.

Personal Reflection and Goal Setting: Each participant is invited to set a personal goal for the group to work on during the upcoming week—whether related to their relationship with food, emotions, or recovery in general. Sharing these goals can foster accountability and encouragement from the group.

Addressing Safety: The facilitator will remain attuned to signs of distress or disordered behaviors and intervene when necessary to ensure participants’ safety. This may include offering a private check-in, providing referrals for additional care, or involving emergency services if there is immediate concern for physical safety.

Our Commitment to Your Recovery: These guidelines aim to cultivate a compassionate and recovery-focused environment where participants can explore their experiences and develop tools for healing. By emphasizing support, mindfulness, and personal growth, this group provides a space where recovery can flourish—at your own pace, in your own time.
