Who Can Participate?

Anyone 16 and older with a love for books and a desire to share. You don’t need to be a performer—just someone who’s been moved by the written word.

Why is it called We Are The Banned?

In the book Fahrenheit 451, when books become outlawed a small group of people memorized certain books to preserve them. This is the embodiment of what this event is. Providing oral alternatives to books that may not always be available.

Does the performance have to be from a book?

Accepted Answer

The answer to this yes. Your performance piece has to be either based on, inspired by, or read from a book that is currently in print.
